Workshop during an Aldabra cruise UNESCO world heritage

Beitrag von horstartur »

for October 2021 I plan a cruise and workshop to Aldabra (see below). I have an offer from a local cruise ship organizer in Victoria, Seyelles.
Together with a professional photographer (Herbert Frei) I indend to act as lecturer. I will teach as supervisor for night dives with fluorescence (and biology).
I expect a special permission from Dr FRAUKE FLEISCHER-DOGLEY - Chief Executive Officer of Seychelles Islands Foundation (SIF) for me as scientist for night dives at Aldabra, since night dives are not allowed for tourists. If at all I would get the permission for my survey studies with fluorescence (environmental threat). This has never be done at this UNESCO world heritage. However, night dives are allowed on other islands during the cruise.
It is well known that Aldabra is the only place worldwide where endemic tortoises besides Galapagos are living. Aldabra is the world largest atoll with a considerable land mass. Otherwise the large number of giant tortoises could not survive. But not only this fact is breathtaking. Divers can participate in outstanding dives including stream diving in the channels.
But also the travel price is "outstanding". May be members of the community would be interested and willing to pay such relative high price.
On the other hand this cruise would be a life time experience. Not only for divers, but also for people with interest in evolutionary biology (my scientific field).
The journey is of interest for highly motivated divers, but also for non divers (tortoises, birds etc. on the land; persons, who are interested in professional photography).
Herbert Frei has over 40 years experience in underwater photography. I myself have now around 300 dives with underwater fluorescence. I constructed and tested the first underwater HighPower flluorescence torch worldwide in 2007.
I will bring several fluorescene torches with me, but it would be great if several divers would have their own stuff > for example the excellent sola.nightsea and special barrier filters or even my offers. Of course they should bring with them their own camera equipment (especially also the special yellow barrier filter for their camera).
In any case interested persons should contact me in advance > horst.grunz et uni-due.de

Personal regards
Horst

Hi Horst,

The Maya’s Dugong is a very busy vessel in the times that Aldabra can be visited. I will tell you that the only slot of time I can offer you is beginning of October of 2021. I can offer her to you from the 6th of October 2021 for 14 nights. Please note this is the shoulder period on which the trade winds are still blowing and as mentioned before it will be a rough crossing over to Aldabra. Mid October onwards is when things are supposed to get better weather wise.

What I suggest you do is get your group together who are willing to pay the full price of such a cruise, and when you sell at least 12 passengers then you can have 1 cabin for yourself for free, all you would pay is the $950 conservation fee. For 2021 the pricing for Aldabra is $13,112 for the Commander cabin and $12,285 for the Explorer cabin. Conservation fee of $950 is additional for each passenger.

jeder redet heute über Umweltschutz. Bereits 2012 habe ich von gravierende Umweltschäden am Korallenriff berichtet.
I have already done such surveys in 2012 with fluorescence. There exist surveys during the day only (Reef Check). I think with fluorescence it is unique worldwide. Dahab 2012 Korallenkrankheiten (Fluoreszenz-Analyse)..... Coral deseases http://youtu.be/_2rT_agiytk%20http://yo ... 2rT_agiytk
