Diagrams and Transmission data of several yellow barrier filter

Beitrag von horstartur »

There are several reasons (see points 1-3, in the article) why I started this approach. Many providers of yellow barrier-filters do not offer any transmission diagrams. They only sell "yellow barrier filters", which they describe as the best on the market. Also providers of excitation filters postulate that the foil excitation filters are superior to dichroic filters. Furthermore several suppliers promote multifunction torches with white, red and blue LEDs. These torches have a poor fluorescence performance, since the torches contain often not more than 2 blue LEDs. Some vendors still postulate that UV in their torches (400 nm or less) give the best results, which is a big mistake. In our long experience with HiTec torches since 2007 torches with excitation wavelengths around 450 nm give the most convincing results. This standpoint is in agreement with Charles Mazel, a MIT professor, owner of nightsea and one of the pioneers in underwater fluorescence. I have included a link to his talk, which he presented during a meeting in Colorado in December 2014. Follow the links on my WEB-page https://www.uni-due.de/fluodives/ > Forschung (or Research. Engl. Version) > Importance of Excitation-and Barrierfilters .. > Details.
