This page Web-page is very important for everybody who cares for the sustainability
of coral reefs worldwide. We also had the idea to use fluorescence during night dives using a scooter and GPS (buoy at the sea surface). The method during the day (not at the coral reef ) is described in the dive journal DIVEMASTER, issue 78. In this way a reproducible survey of living and dead corals (especially tiny recruits of 1 mm) would be possible. A first trial without GPS is shown here > https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jyoax5jRQIY We documented a whole fringing reef over 800 meter. I like to point out that we illuminate large areas in contrast to the numerous „normal“ fluorescence photos in close distance with the aim to get a colorful documentation. Sir David Attenbourough summarizes in a recent movie the threats of coral reefs. > http://www.qcif.edu.au/ In the movie „Global Reef Record“ Prof. Ove Hoegh-Guldberg, an international well known marine biologist at the university of Queensland , reports about the reef record with the new special 3 D - camera - system. > http://www.qcif.edu.au/ (lower part of the page). It would be nice if they could do this also with HighPower fluorescence.
